In the epilogue of Remember Me 3, Jimmy's talking to Peter and Peter says how writing was Shari's first love. And then Jimmy says, "No, you were," or something like that. And then Peter says, "We both were." And that made me wonder if Peter meant both he and writing or both he and Jimmy. And if both he and Jimmy were her first love, wouldn't that likely make them the same person? With all said and done, there's no way she could have just died at the end. It had to be something more epic, and a little heartbreaking.
